Leader ship- How to be a leader

First of all, let's define leadership. To be a leader, one must be able to influence others to accomplish a goal, or an objective. He contributes to the organization and cohesion of a group.

Contrary to what most people believe, leadership is not about power. It is not about harassing people or driving them using fear. It is about encouraging others towards the goal of the organization. It is putting everyone on the same page and helping them see the big picture of the organization. You must be a leader not a boss.

First of all, you have to get people to follow you. How is this accomplished?

People follow others when they see a clear sense of purpose. People will only follow you if they see that you know where you are going. Remember that bumper sticker? The one that says, don't follow me, I'm lost too? The same holds true for leadership. If you yourself do not know where you're headed to, chances are people will not follow you at all.

You yourself must know the vision of the organization. Having a clear sense of hierarchy, knowing who the bosses are, who to talk to, the organization's goals and objectives, and how the organization works is the only way to show others you know what you are doing.

Being a leader is not about what you make others do. It's about who you are, what you know, and what you do. You are a reflection of what you're subordinates must be.

Studies have shown that one other bases of good leadership is the trust and confidence your subordinates have of you. If they trust you they will go through hell and high water for you and for the organization.

Trust and confidence is built on good relationships, trustworthiness, and high ethics.

The way you deal with your people, and the relationships you build will lay the foundation for the strength of your group. The stronger your relationship, the stronger their trust and confidence is in your capabilities.

Once you have their trust and confidence, you may now proceed to communicate the goals and objectives you are to undertake.

Communication is a very important key to good leadership. Without this you can not be a good leader. The knowledge and technical expertise you have must be clearly imparted to other people.

Also, you can not be a good leader and unless you have good judgment. You must be able to assess situations, weigh the pros and cons of any decision, and actively seek out a solution.

It is this judgment that your subordinates will come to rely upon. Therefore, good decision-making is vital to the success of your organization.

Leaders are not do-it-all heroes. You should not claim to know everything, and you should not rely upon your skills alone.

You should recognize and take advantage of the skills and talents your subordinates have. Only when you come to this realization will you be able to work as one cohesive unit.

Remember being a leader takes a good deal of work and time. It is not learned overnight. Remember, also, that it is not about just you. It is about you and the people around you.

So, do you have the drive and the desire to serve required of leaders? Do you have the desire to work cooperatively with other people? Then start now. Take your stand and be leader today.

Don't Taz me Bro................ zzzt

Disturbing News today. A college student apparently asked "the wrong" questions of John Kerry. This CLEARLY isn't what the founding fathers had in mind.

"It behooves every man who values liberty of conscience for himself, to resist invasions of it in the case of others: or their case may, by change of circumstances, become his own." - Thomas Jefferson.

You have to ask your self where are we headed? Is this 1984?

Success An Inside Job?

The Person Responsible For Your Success
by Jack Canfield

It’s time to meet the person who has been responsible for the life you live right now.

This person has created your income, your debt, your relationships, your health, your fitness level, your weight, your attitudes and your behaviors. Who is it? To introduce yourself, just walk to the closest mirror and say hello! This person is you!

Although one of the popular myths out there is that "external factors" determine how you live, the truth of the matter is that you are in complete control of the quality of your life.

It’s time to look at the life you’ve created and determine what is working and what is not. Certainly there are wonderful things happening in your life, whether it’s your job, your spouse, your grades, your children, your friends, or your income level.

Congratulate yourself on these successes; you are creating them for yourself! And then take a look at what isn’t working out so well. What are you doing or not doing to create those experiences?

It’s time to stop blaming outside factors for your unhappiness.

When you realize that you create your experiences, you’ll realize that you can un-create them and create new experiences whenever you want. But you must take responsibility for your happiness and your unhappiness, your successes and your failures, your good times and your bad times. When you stop blaming, you can take that energy and redirect to focus on creating a better situation for yourself. Blaming only ties up your energy.

It’s also time to stop complaining.

Look at what you are complaining about. Really examine it. More than likely it is something that you can do something about.

Are you unhappy about something that is happening? Make requests that will make it more desirable to you, or take the steps to change it yourself. Making a change might be uncomfortable to you. It might mean you have to put in more time, money, and effort. It might mean that someone gets upset about it. It might be difficult to change or leave a situation, but staying put is your choice so why continue to complain? Face the facts that you can either do something about it or not. It is your choice and you have responsibility for your choices.

Successful people take 100% responsibility for the thoughts they think, the images that visualize and the actions they take.

They don't waste their time and energy blaming and complaining. They evaluate their experiences and decide if they need to change them or not. They face the uncomfortable and take risks in order to create the life they want to live.

Taking responsibility requires you to first decide to believe that you create all your experiences. Second, to pay attention to yourself, your behavior, and your life experiences. And last, to face the truth and deal with what is not working in your life. You have to be willing to change your behavior if you want a different outcome. You have to be willing to take the risks necessary to get what you want.

Isn’t it a great relief to know that you can make your life what you want it to be? Isn’t it wonderful that your successes do not depend on someone else?

Commit to taking 100% responsibility for your every aspect of your life. Decide to make changes, one step at a time. Once you start the process you’ll discover it is much easier to get what you want by taking control of your thoughts, your visualizations, and your actions!

11 popular audio books to improve your mind or your business

11 popular audio books to improve your mind or your business

It's indeed incredible that not many people pay a great deal of attention to what gets into their minds.

You see, the mind is the single most important factor in determining who you are and what you do as an individual. If we want good results, we have to put the good stuff in.

If your mind is positive and creative, you can become all you ever dream of becoming.

Most of the highly successful people you see in the news today took a great deal of time to work on improving their minds.

On the other hand, if your mind is negative and inactive, it's very likely you won't amount to anything in life at least you will struggle more than you need to. Analyzing the lives of some of the most notorious people in the world would reveal that they always fed their minds with negative thoughts.

The same is true for the success stories of the world, they model others and feed their mind positive information as a habit.

The question that obviously comes to play here is - are we born with positive or negative minds?

I will quickly and firmly say NO to both!

We develop our minds by what we put into it. If we are continually putting negative information into our minds, this results to negative thoughts and ultimately negative actions.

So, if you want the opposite creative thoughts, it is pertinent to always get the right kind of information into your mind. We all have a certain amount of programming, but the good news is that we can change it.

The most common way to do this is by reading the right kinds of books.

Sadly, because of the great demand on our time, only few people still read lots of books, especially after college but that doesn't mean we should stop learning.

We mostly only have time to read the newspapers and magazines. And guess what? Most newspapers only end up giving us bad news that further increase our negative state of mind.

If you want to really get positive and helpful information, you need to read books that contain such information.

Thankfully with the advent and popularity of audio books, ipods and other portable mp3 devices anyone can get the right information into his or her mind without having to "read".

You can enjoy the benefits of audio books while exercising, commuting to and from your work, or just relaxing.

For those who don't know exactly the audio books to go for, below is a list of 11 popular audio books to improve your mind, career, or business.

11 Popular Audio book Downloads

WHY Audio book downloads are Popular with Publishers & Listeners.

Audio book downloads are Popular with Publishers & Listeners alike.

As the reach of the internet expands and new products are introduced, the opportunity for an old idea to reinvent itself occurs as well. Such is the case with downloadable audio books and their rising popularity- a trend that for awhile was ahead of it’s time.

In the past, audio books might have been on a series of bulky cassette tapes. Today the same content can occupy a small space as a downloadable file, and is much more portable than audio books of an earlier day. The Credit largely goes to the adoption Apple’s ipod and other portable Mp3 devices for making this trend.

Estimates of the size of the audio book market range from $800 Million to 2.2 Billion dollars.

For publishers there are benefits like- never running out of inventory. Only one copy is needed- a digital file that can be downloaded and then moved around and copied to a computer, CD or MP3 player, or most recently your mobile phone.

While recording costs must be incurred, and publishing rights have to be secured returns are eliminated and it is possible to be profitable with much smaller sales volumes. It may not be long before sales of audio book versions outsell their print counterparts. Another important aspect is that digital audio downloads are bringing books to customers and reaching new audiences who might never consider visiting or shopping in a bookstore.

As for listeners, there are benefits as well including selection, portability, and low prices.

For the mulit-taskers listening to audio books can be combined with other activities like driving, cooking, running, or working out.

Audio books can benefit just about anyone including the blind, elderly, and even children.

Some experts have said that audio books are a great tool to expose children to books. The audio format attracts kids because it's a different -- and cool -- reading alternative, especially now that they can download a book right to their MP3 players.

While some people still believe that listening to books is no substitution for reading them, reading experts believe that listening to books is a great tool to help students develop their reading skills.

If you think about it, didn't we learn to read by hearing the words aloud?

Audio books may help young students expand their vocabulary and develop reading fluency because they can listen to books that would be too hard for them to read in a printed form.

On most audio book sites you can view an entire catalog of books, read the summary and reviews, and even listen to audio samples. Access to many varieties is only a few clicks away and websites are always open for business. A popular trend that is likely to continue, audio books are proving beneficial to their publishers and listeners.

The Secret movie History

Having Sold Millions of copies around the world, The Secret movie is definitely a historic event.

The Secret Movie's history begins with creator-Rhonda Byrne. She is not only the producer of the film "The Secret," but she is the inspiration behind it. Rhonda says she stumbled on what she calls The Secret at the end of 2004. Rhonda's life had fallen apart—physically, emotionally and financially—and she was in "total despair." Then her father died suddenly, and she was worried about her grief-stricken mother. "I wept and wept and wept, and I didn't want my daughter to see me sobbing," Rhonda says.

That's when Rhonda's daughter gave her a copy of 'The Science of Getting Rich,' a book written in 1910 by Wallace D. Wattles. "Something inside of me had me turn the pages one by one, and I can still remember my tears hitting the pages as I was reading it," Rhonda says. "It gave me a glimpse of The Secret. It was like a flame inside of my heart. And with every day since, it's just become a raging fire of wanting to share all of this with the world."

After that first discovery, Rhonda read hundreds of books, listened to hundreds of hours of audio tapes and scoured the Internet for more information. She says she traced the idea of The Secret through history—all the way from 3500 B.C. to the present day. "Since I discovered The Secret, every single moment of my entire life has changed, and I am living my life for the first time," Rhonda says.

Having previously worked as a senior producer for Australia's Nine Network, with 20 years experience in commercial television production, Rhonda launched Prime Time Productions in 1994. Under her guidance and direction, Prime Time Production's focus is to continue to create film and television projects which will bring an inspiring, touching and uplifting messages and to help create joy for millions of people around the planet.

The Secret Movie's history is still being written, with books and The Secret audio books also available. Additional movies are also being planned. While The Secret continues to sweep the world, you can expect to hear much more about this history making movie in the months and years to come.

If you would like to take "The Secret" with you when you aren't available to watch it, The Secrect Audiobook may be a good alternative. You can find out more below. The Secret Audio book features additional material not found in the original movie version.

Who IS this guy with the perfect teeth, Joel Osteen?

Is this guy just a liitle bit too Perfect? That's what I thought when I first saw him. I mean look at this guy- his great looking suits, beaming white smile, beautiful wife, postive attitude. What a total turn-off. Really, I actually thought oh man- look at this guy what next. Maybe it was my own inadequieces coming out there. Should it matter that this guy appears to have it all together? Granted MR. Osteen is pretty smooth and he was too much for me at first, but he won my over in just watching him a couple times.

I like listening to him now and have read his book " Your Best Life Now" I especially think that anyone can gain some good insights about having faith and speaking positively.

Joel Osteen, a native Houstonian, has committed his life to serving and helping every person, regardless of background and economic status, to achieve their fullest potential. Having started Lakewood's television ministry, Joel worked side-by-side with his father, Pastor John Osteen, for 17 years, and took Lakewood's positive message of hope to over 100 million households throughout the United States.

I know a bit about Dale Carnegie

Dale Carnegie was born in 1888 in Maryville, Missouri,he was a poor farmer's boy, the second son of James William and Amanda Elizabeth Carnegie. In his teens, though still having to get up at 4 a.m. every day to milk his parents' cows, he managed to get educated at the State Teacher's College in Warrensburg. His first job after college was selling correspondence courses to ranchers; then he moved on to selling bacon, soap and lard for Armour & Company. He was successful to the point of making his sales territory, southern Omaha, the national leader for the firm.

Perhaps one of Dale Carnegie’s most successful marketing moves was to change the spelling of his last name from “Carnegey” to Carnegie, at a time when Andrew Carnegie was a widely revered and recognized name.

Dale Carnegie went on to found and expand his training organization to the point where it has today reached millions of people worldwide. Some Famous Carnegie quotations can be found below.

Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain -- and most fools do.
- Dale Carnegie

Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.
- Dale Carnegie

Remember happiness doesn't depend upon who you are or what you have; it depends solely on what you think. - Dale Carnegie

If you want to win friends, make it a point to remember them. If you remember my name, you pay me a subtle compliment; you indicate that I have made an impression on you. Remember my name and you add to my feeling of importance.
- Dale Carnegie

Big shots are only little shots who kept on shooting.
- Dale Carnegie

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.
- Dale Carnegie

A few years ago, I did take the Dale Carnegie course, and I can say that I would recommend it.It gets your out of your comfort zone that is for sure. Am I "really" as motivated as I thought?

I Had the stange feeling yesterday that I am not nearly as motivated as I thought. You know I have all these great ideas about all the things I want to do, and the things I want to have and somehow there was a place that thought that was pretty good- you know. But what does that mean? I wasn't really doing anything, progressing, moving forward. Yep, I had a BIG SLAP IN THE FACE yesterday.

In a short break from my non-acheiving state, I ran across a program about OPRAH. Have you ever heard of her, she has a TV show. I'll give you the condensed version. It was a program about her geneology. In short using the records they had, historical information, modern technology and DNA analysis they were able to trace her roots back to a specific local region in Africa and most probably the Capelle tribe,ok pretty amazing all by itself.

As it turns out, one of her great granfathers I think his name was Constantine owned 160 acres of land. This was in about 1870 just a few years after the civil war. How is it that a former negro slave that may not have been able to read or write find the means to own land?

You can imagine that he probably didn't have the CASH. So this is what he did. He
entered into an agreement with the landowner for the purchase of the land. In exchange, he would produce 3800 lbs of cotton. Keep in mind this is still before the invention of the cotton gin.

You have to pick it all with your hands. At the top of the plant there are barbs (like on a rose bush and they tend to go under your fingernails) you have to bend over constantly, and drag around the big bag of the stuff you picked. It's probably a bit WARM out there as well.

I don't know about you, but I think that's alot of cotton. Not sure exactly HOW he pulled that off, but he DID and then he did AGAIN and bought another 80 acres.

My hat's off to any person who can pull off something like that. Yesterday I thought I had motivation, but you know it's time to DO more.

It just so happens I ran across a book that decribes this very idea, so read on and see if this fits someone you know.
